What's Saat Farei?
As the name says, this ritual is performed in 7th month of pregnancy with great pomp & show!
Every family do not perform this ritual, and organisation of functions and the way to perform veneration varies from family to family.
Some might perform this function with huge gatherings or some might not.
The ritual is performed in two consecutive days; Rasams are divided accordingly.
The rasams performed on the first day are called SAAT, and the ones performed on Second are called FAREI.
The basic idea behind this functions is the purification of the baby and the mother, as it is believed that baby while in mother's womb stays close to stool, urine, other toxic excretions of the body, the purification of the soul is needed.
DALA comes from the house of the mother to be. Mainly, two sarees of Shagun are their one is called GHAAT and the other is called LIPTAIYA.
In morning the May Puja (dev pujan) is performed (or because of any weekday issue people complete May Puja one day prior to Saat). In evening 7 Gaunnis, sister in laws of the mother and the mother sits and eats together from same plates (or parat sometimes). The food is served in thaals (parats)..
In this, the feast meal served for the GAUNNIS & MOTHER, everything is what the mother craves for, or she had liked the most during this 7 months period.
The mother is dressed well for the puja of both the days.
After the meal the mother is asked to pretend that she is dishearten and the upset mother sits in the room, the father in law of the mother makes her up. After the mother is settled, she comes out with a diya called anjiri and later on elders their do paneecha.
That is it for today.
We will discuss FAREI and some concepts and rituals of Saat in next week!
